Local athletes competed at the Class 1 and Class 2 state championships over the weekend. At right, Bronaugh senior Katlyn Douglas finishes out the year with a strong 8th place in shot put.
Here's how other local competitors fared:
Liberal Lady Bulldogs, fifth in the team standings; Bulldog boys, 19th. Bulldog Jordan Meadows won the 200-meter dash in 23.19 and finished fifth in the 400 in 52.59. Lady Bulldog Kylie Brown, second in the 1,600-meter run and third in the 3,200-meter run and ran the third leg of the 4-by-400 meter relay team that finished sixth. Kori Dodson was fifth in the 100-meter dash and teamed with Kacia Fry, Karmen Rose and Kacey Ayers for a runner-up finish in the 4-by-200 and a third-place finish in the 4-by-100. Other area athletes placing in the Class 1 state meet included, Erica Conner, Sheldon, sixth in the 3,200 and Rich Hill sophomore Sara Hammett, third in the 100. Lamar Lady Tiger athletes placed in the Class 2 state meet: Maggie Tennal, fourth in the 3,200, and Ashia White, seventh in the high jump. --Cathy Williams/Special to the Daily Mail
