Nevada High School track competes at state
The Missouri Class 3 State Track and Field Championships featured six Nevada High School athletes Thursday. None of those six were able to achieve state champion status, but there were some strong performances nonetheless.
Sophomore Alex Bledsoe turned in the best of those performances as he finished fourth in the boys' 800-meter run in 1 minute, 57.34 seconds. Senior Heather Thomas posted a 12th place finish in the shot put with a distance of 34 feet, 10 inches on her third throw.
Senior Mariah Mock qualified for the 37th annual girls' championships in two different individual events. She placed 13th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.15 seconds and brought home 14th in the 200 at 27.04. She was later joined by junior Jessica Neely and sophomores Bailey Harbit and Rees Noble in a 14th place effort in the 4-by-100 relay, taking 14th with a time of 51.69.
