Tuesday, June 8, 2010

A one vehicle crash that occurred in an alley near 414 Walnut Street, Nevada, about 10:30 on Saturday night knocked out a transformer and power to several homes and businesses. A car driven by Ryan K. Mauer struck a utility pole in the alley and caused the outage. Mauer suffered "evident-not disabling injuries," according to a Nevada Police Department press release.

The loss of power affected a number of customers in the area of Osage and Cherry to Osage and Hickory streets.

According to Clara Miller, a corporate communication spokesperson for Kansas City Power and Light Company, 89 customers in the affected area were out of power. Service was restored to all but one customer by 12:55 a.m., Sunday. One unnamed customer was without power until 7:15 a.m. when KCP&L crews finished replacing the pole.
