Thank you for the help

Tuesday, June 8, 2010

Dear Editor,

We would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to the people of Vernon County and the surrounding communities. Without your help and support, Makenzie would not have been named the 2010 National Doodle 4 Google Winner. It was exciting to see how the schools and communities pulled together by sharing with friends and families all over the world how to vote for Makenzie's doodle.

Makenzie has accomplished so much and has had an opportunity of a lifetime, but it thrills our family most that our school will receive the $25,000 technology grant that can benefit all of our students. We are so thankful to be a part of the El Dorado Springs R-2 School District and community.

What wonderful communities we have in Cedar and Vernon County. The Midnight Welcome Home Parade that was given the night we arrived home from New York was overwhelmingly astounding. A special thank you goes out to the El Dorado Springs Police Department for their assistance in escorting the welcome home parade, Tobi Brownlow from What's Your Sign for making & donating the congratulations sign, Dick and Rhonda Culbertson for use of their pontoon, Mr. Barnes for pulling the pontoon and informing the school families about the national win and the surprise Welcome Home Parade, and also the teachers who decorated the pontoon, the lane to our home, the yard, and the house.

We would also like to thank the many businesses for allowing such a large crowd to gather in the parking lots at midnight, to all the businesses along 54 & 32 Hwy for allowing community supporters to cheer from your lots, and the wonderful congratulation signs on your marquees. And many thanks to the media (especially The Sun Newspaper, KESM, Nevada Daily Mail, & Cedar County Republican) for the fantastic coverage throughout the entire event. It was "extremely awesome" as Makenzie would say to see the entire community celebrate together as one. THANKS! And to Ms. Walsh who went far and above what is required for any teacher, none of this would have happened without you and your encouragement. THANK YOU MS. WALSH!

Words can't express enough, the gratitude and pride we have for our school and community. THANK YOU!

And finally in Makenzie's own words, "Thank you for giving me so much of your support and voting for my Doodle 4 Google. It has been an amazing experience to be the 2010 National Winner!"

Yours truly,

Makenzie,

Scott, Tammy, Mallory, and Megan Melton
