Mike Hutchinson paints

Monday evening, Mike Hutchison, Hartville, works on repainting the old sign on the building he purchased in the 100 block of east Cherry Street. Hutchison plans to eventually open an old style hardware store in the building. Hutchison's wife, Rebecca, who was watching from across the street, said that it is much cooler to work at 11:30 at

It's good to see some history coming back to the square. It's too bad the original 3-story structure on the corner isn't still there. That was quite the intersection (Cherry and Washington) in the 1950's and prior.

I wish Nevada would declare the downtown area a historical district. Then they could prevent eyesores like that building presently on the corner. It looks completely out of place.

You're welcome, Butch56. That site is mainly on Cottey College history, but they have a ton of other local pics as well. They have a great collection of old Radio Springs Park pics from back in its hay day. I'd love to see that park restored to its former glory.
