Red Sox sweep Carl Junction

The Nevada AA Red Sox enjoyed a two-win night Tuesday as they took on district rival Carl Junction.
In the opening game of the night's doubleheader, Nevada and Carl Junction combined for 32 runs in just seven innings. Lucas Denman paced the hitting with a 4-for-5 performance with two doubles and four RBIs in the Red Sox 16-hit performance. Sam Ellifrits was 2-for-3 and Grant Wolfe went 3-for-4 with three RBIs.
Zach Vignolo was 3-for-5, including a fifth-inning leadoff home run to left field to break an 11-11 tie. Lane Ketterman scored three runs for the Red Sox.
Cole Sanderson pitched the first four, followed by John Klingaman and Lucas Denman. Brady Denney pitched the final two innings.
In the nightcap, Carl Junction jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth. Ryan Ferris had an infield RBI single to get Nevada on the board. Nevada scored five in the bottom of the fifth to pull out the win.
Morgan Long had an RBI single and Alex Payne hit a two-run walk-off double to complete the win. Derek Nagel started the contest on the mound and pitched three innings. Kyle "Bubba" Banes pitched the final two scoreless innings, including four strikeouts.
Nevada is now 6-2 in district play, 12-8 overall and completes the regular season this Saturday at 9 a.m., with a district game against Joplin at Lyons Stadium.
