NEVADA -- The Nevada Griffons have officially added another name to their ever-growing list of former players who have gone on to play professional baseball. With the 1,275th overall pick in the 2010 draft, the Minnesota Twins took former Griffons pitcher Brett Carroll in the 42nd round.

Carroll played for the Griffons in the summer of 2008, and is currently playing for the Fort Myers, Fla., Twins in the Rookie Gulf Coast League. The 6-foot-1-inch lefty currently has a 2-0 record with a 6.43 ERA in four appearances for the Twins this year.

In the summer of 2008, Carroll finished with a 1-2 record 2.10 ERA in 13 appearances for the Griffons under then-head coach John Hill III. Carroll allowed 23 hits and eight runs -- six earned -- with 20 strikeouts and 15 walks in his 25 2-3 innings on the mound and his ERA was second only to closer Nick Phillips. Opposing hitters managed just a .237 average against Carroll over that stretch.
