Nevada Neptunes season rolls along

The Nevada Neptunes strong season continued with strong outings recently at the Carthage Invitational, Parsons Invitational and a dual meet with Lamar at the Walton Family Aquatic Center.
A total of 40 Neptunes participated in the Carthage Invitational swim meet July 10 and 11. The team placed eighth out of 12 teams in the meet that included 695 swimmers. Two Neptunes finished in the top three in their age division. Grant Miller was second in the 8-and-under boys' division and Sophia Wehrman was second in the 8-and-under girls' division.
Miller and Wehrman both broke Neptunes team records in the meet. Miller broke the record in the 25-yard freestyle with a time of 16.40 seconds, beating a record formerly held by Lucas Denman. Wehrman broke the record in the 25-yard backstroke in a time of 20.29, taking a record formerly held by Chancy (Wetter) Glynn since 1988.
Mikayla Mohrmann improved her own team record in the 10-and-under girls' division with a time of 31.56.
The Neptunes hosted a dual with Lamar on July 14. The Neptunes were able to win a very close battle 343-332 over the visiting Tiger Sharks.
In total, 28 Neptunes participated in the Parsons Invitational on July 17 and 18. The Neptunes were able to place fourth in the meet of 11 teams, behind strong individual outings by many swimmers.
Three Neptunes claimed the high point trophy for their age division. Miller in the 8-and-under boys' division, Wehrman in the 8-and-under girls' division, and Cazden Del Chiaro in the 15-18 boys' division. Jesse Claypool finished second in the 13-14 boys' division. Claypool and Del Chiaro also broke Neptunes records earlier in the season at the Neptunes Invitational.
Claypool broke the record in the 13- to 14-year-old boys' 200 individual medley with a time of 2 minutes, 28.25 seconds, taking a record held by Ben Chrisman since 1997. Del Chiaro took four records in the 15-18 boys' division, all held by Kyle Kearbey since 2001. He broke the records in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.06, 50-yard butterfly in 25.91, 100-yard freestyle in 51.60, and the 50-yard breaststroke in 30.20.
