Delta Society Pet Partners forum, evaluation set for Sept. 25

Wonderful Animals Giving Support has announced that fall Delta Society Pet Partners evaluations will be conducted by appointment only, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Nevada, on Sept. 25.

Through the program, individuals and their pets assist with reading programs and visit area nursing homes and senior care facilities.

Gwen Snead, of WAGS, said that evaluations are for anyone interested in becoming a member of the Delta Society; pets and their handlers are evaluated for the suitability for the program.

An open discussion forum for those interested in exchanging ideas and information regarding such visits with animals also will be conducted, 2-4 p.m.

The forum, Snead said, "Will be people who've done it before, and people who've never done it before, to share their ideas and find out what it's like to do this sort of thing and what to expect."

Those who pass the evaluation have 90 days to successfully complete the Delta Society Pet Partners Workshop -- available by home study course -- and to register with the Delta Society, Snead said.
