Lady Tigers tennis wins on the road
JOPLIN, Mo. -- The Nevada Lady Tigers varsity tennis team edged Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School on Monday by a final score of 5-4.
Thomas Jefferson defaulted in the No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles matches, handing Nevada two early victories before a match was ever played. Leah Creasy won the No. 3 singles match, 8-5, over Cayla Burnett, while Ashley McKinley beat Thisbe Scholfield Johnson in the No. 5 singles match, 8-2, and the team of Creasy and Regan Kimbrough won the No. 2 doubles match by a final score of 8-5, over Burnett and Johnson.
The Lady Tigers were scheduled to head back out on the road to take on their cross-state rivals, the Lady Tigers of Fort Scott, at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, but those results were not available at press time.
