Thelma Marie Armsworthy, 89, former resident of the Garland, Bronaugh, Mo., area and more recently of Nevada, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at the Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada. She was born Jan. 14, 1921, in Vernon County, the daughter of Earl Gulliford and Alta Janes Gulliford. She graduated from Bronaugh High School in 1938. She married William Kolbe Armsworthy on Dec. 24, 1940, in Lamar, Mo. Thelma was a member of the Glenwood Community Club. She was very active in the children's school functions including PTO. She enjoyed quilting as well as cooking for her family. Every Sunday she prepared dinner for her grandchildren and any other family members that could attend.

Survivors include her husband Bill, Nevada; two daughters, Patty Clinton and husband, Don, and Jean Hahnfeld and husband, Terry, all of Bronaugh; two brothers, V. H. Gulliford, Deerfield, and Richard Gulliford, Monett, Mo.; four grandchildren, Kolbe Starne and wife, Abby, Bronaugh, Nathan Starne and wife, Crystal, Lamar, Mo., Shane Clinton, Bronaugh, and Stacy Clinton, Bronaugh. Also surviving are four great grandchildren, Arin, Brant, Ethan and Brody Starne, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Gulliford as well as her parents.

The Rev. Ron Woody will conduct graveside services at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 1, in the U.S. National Cemetery, Fort Scott. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:30 p.m. until leaving for the cemetery at 1:15 p.m., in the Cheney Witt Chapel.
