Cottey Comets volleyball beats Fort Scott
Cottey freshman and former Lady Tiger Mar-Kel West, of Rich Hill, returns a serve while sophomore and former Lady Tiger Emily Moore, Nevada, and freshman and former Lady Bulldog Ashley Helm, El Dorado Springs, watch, during Saturday's match against the Fort Scott Greyhounds.
The Comets struggled early, dropping the first two sets, 26-24 and 25-11, before coming back and winning the last three, 25-22, 25-19 and 15-10, to take the match. Moore led the Comets with 22 digs, while Kailey Kelly turned in 14 kills and 18 assists and Brooke McKinley knocked down six solo blocks. As a team, the Comets served a total of nine aces and four players served two apiece.
With the win, the Comets improved their overall record to 8-4 on the year, following a three-set loss to Ozark Christian College by the final scores of 25-14, 25-16 and 25-21 Friday night.
The Comets will be back in action on Wednesday, when they host Metropolitan Community College-Longview at 7 p.m., inside Hinkhouse Gymnasium.
