Vern K. Meinershagen
Vern K. Meinershagen, 91, Independence, Mo., passed away Oct. 1, 2010. Vern was born July 24, 1919 In Independence, Mo., to Edward and Ida (Kehr) Meinershagen. Vern served his country proudly two times. He was a Master Sergeant, recipient of the Bronze Star and is a veteran of the U.S. Army. Vern loved working with wood and had a passion for clocks. He married Betty Jane Rohr on Oct. 1, 1943, and on what would have been their 67th anniversary, Vern joined his bride in heaven. He is preceded into death by his parents and his wife Betty in 2006.
Survivors include two sons, Lynn E. Meinershagen and his wife, Karen, of Nevada, and Alan V. Meinershagen and his wife, Christina, of Aurora, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Stephen D. Meinershagen, Jason E. Meinershagen, David W. Meinershagen, Derek W. Meinershagen, Mitchell D. Meinershagen, Kirk A. Meinershagen and Mandilou Tramonte; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 4, at First Baptist Church of Independence. Burial followed in Ebenezer United Church of Christ Cemetery, Levasy, Mo. Visitation was 2-4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 3, at DW Newcomer's Sons Noland Road Chapel, Independence.
