Council to discuss taxi coupon program tonight

The Nevada City Council will be holding a public hearing and then considering the first reading of a special ordinance approving an application for a grant to partially pay for the city's taxi coupon program.

The council also will be conducting the final reading of a lease agreement with Crowder College for property to expand Crowder's parking lot at the Nevada campus.

Other items on the agenda include the re-appointment of Jeff Tweten and Lisa Christie to four-year terms on the planning commission and the appointment of Shirley Rainey to fill an un-expired term on the library board.

The mayor will also present a proclamation to the VFW Ralph V. Bobbett Post No. 2175 in recognition of Buddy Poppy Days.

That is not an agenda item. It will be discussed in either public participation or misc. matters but is not listed as an agenda item because it is not something that will require a vote.

JAYNE,I DONT UNDERSTAND YOUR COMMENT THAT THE ALLIANCE ISSUE IS NOT AGENDA THAT WOLD REQUIRE A VOTE. DOES NOT NEVADANS TAX DOLLAS PAY FOR THE SERVICES OF THE CITY EMPLOYEES CURRENT DUTIES AND IF YOU DECIDE TO GET RID OF THESE EMPLOYEES IN FAVOR OF HIRING AN OUTSIDE SOURCE TO DO THESE DUTIES ARENT TAX DOLLARS STILL INVOLVED.I THINK SOMETHING AS IMPORTANT AS THIS,THAT WILL AFFECT THE CITIZENS OF NEVADA SHOULD BE AGENDA THAT NEEDS TO BE VOTED ON.

I'm sorry what I said was not clear. There is no proposal at this time that requires a vote. If and when there is a proposal it will come to council for a vote. Once again I am sorry for not being clear. I will not address anything else in this blog. If you have questions please bring them before council in the form of public participation. I will be happy to address them there.

it sounded perfectly clear to me. It's not on the agenda because there is nothing being brought before the Council for consideration.

It might help keep the conversation more civil if we STOP TYPING IN ALL CAPS, WHICH REPRESENTS SHOUTING!!!, and try to use complete sentences. Just a suggestion, please don't hurt me. :)

Why has the City not lowered the taxi fairs?? As I recall the current rates were approved when fuel (gasoline) was at $4.00 per gallon. Now that fuel is lower and has remained lower for some time why not look back and reduce the rates to a figure most elderly can handle easily? And I don't attend your council meetings because of my work.

What can we as Nevada residents do to get rid of this city manager? He is just trying to make a nanme for himself so he can move on to a better paying job. The citizens of Bowling Green sure don't like the situations he created for them.

He won't leave until he has messed up everything and has found a better paying job. This is just a stepping stone for him, but we will have to live with his mistakes.

Titan...why are we not allowed to know the particulars of the "emperor's" contract? Is the council not subject to the Missouri Sunshine Law??

Here is the link to the Attorney General's template letter requesting documents under the MO Sunshine Law. They have 3 days to produce the records or give a response as to why they will not release them. They should cite specific RSMo. sections that would exclude the information requested.

If someone can tell me who the custodan of records for the city is...I suppose I could send the letter. I no longer live in Nevada.
