Darlene Ann Swafford

Darlene Ann Swafford, 80, Nevada, passed away Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada. She was born Nov. 12, 1929, in Fort Scott, Kan., to Jesse Elroy Swafford and Rose Johanna Balocca Swafford.

Ms. Swafford made her home in Nevada since 1956. She worked at Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott, Kan., for nine years and also worked at the Nevada Habilitation Center in Nevada for 17 years, retiring as a psychiatric aide II. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Nevada. Darlene was an avid gardner and a great friend to all.

Survivors include several cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son Mike Swafford; and two sisters, Lea Swafford and Anna Swartz.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 27, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Nevada, with the Rev. Justin Hoye officiating. Interment will follow at Newton Burial Park in Nevada.

Friends may call now and until 12 p.m., Wednesday, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
