FORT SCOTT, Kan. -- Nearly 24 hours after the case was handed over to the jury, a Fort Scott man learned his fate Friday morning.

Douglas Page was found guilty of one count of child abuse, one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child, one count of aiding and abetting aggravated indecent liberties with a child, and one count of promoting obscenity to a minor, in regards to an incident with a 3-year-old relative in September 2008.

County Attorney Terri Johnson could not be reached for comment Friday following the jury's decision.

The counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and aiding and abetting aggravated indecent liberties with a child were alternative charges to aggravated criminal sodomy and aiding and abetting aggravated criminal sodomy.

Jury deliberations resumed at 8:30 a.m. Friday. They got the case at about noon Oct. 28 and adjourned for the evening at 5:30 p.m. that day. They resumed deliberations at 8:30 a.m. Friday and returned their verdict at 11:15 a.m.

The panel reviewed two previous testimonies in the case before deciding on a verdict.

Following the announcement of the verdict, Page's attorney Robert Myers requested the jury be polled. Each juror was addressed by Bourbon County 6th District Judge Mark Ward and each confirmed the verdict.

As a result, Page's bond was revoked and he was taken into custody by the Bourbon County Sheriff. Page's sentencing and post-trial motion hearing are tentatively scheduled for 10 a.m. Jan. 4.
