Shirley Ann Wait
Shirley Ann Wait, 78, Nevada, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010, at Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada following a lengthy illness. She was born Aug. 3, 1932, in Moundville, Mo., to William Carl Thompson and Gladys Pryor Thompson. She married Louis M. Wait Jr. (a.k.a Junior) on June 24, 1951, in Moundville, Mo., and he survives of the home.
Shirley was born and raised in Vernon County and spent virtually her entire life here. She graduated from Nevada High School in 1951. She worked at various jobs in her lifetime, including working as a waitress, a school bus driver for 13 years, and as a bookkeeper at the First Christian Church, Nevada, where she was a member. She belonged to the square dance club some years ago and also loved to travel, play cards and bingo.
Survivors in addition to her husband, Junior, include two sons, Tommy Wait, Bronaugh, Mo., and Jerry Wait, Nevada; three daughters, Teresa McClure, Nevada, Shelly Simpson, Columbus, Kan., and Jeanie Reis, McComb, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Margaret Shumaker, Nevada; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Peggy Greenlee, Nevada.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 11, at Ferry Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Platt officiating. Interment will follow at Newton Burial Park in Nevada.
Friends may call now and until the time of service at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday between 6:30 and 8 p.m.
