Natural Hazard Mitigation meetings in Vernon County this month

Town hall meetings are scheduled in Vernon County -- one in Schell City today, at 8 p.m. and another in Bronaugh at 7 p.m., Jan. 10. Specific site information was not provided; for more information contact Sam Dingfelder at (660) 885-3393 or sam@kaysinger.com.

The meetings, to be hosted by the Kaysinger Basin Regonal Planning Commission, will discuss the public's role in updating the county's Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan, which identifies the types of natural disasters that could occur, concerns of citizens in the case of natural disaster, and how to mitigate the impact of such events. The plan is updated every 5 years and is required by the Federal Emergency Management Agency to make local entities eligible for grants.
