Esther Sander
Esther Sander, 102, Nevada, formerly of Moundville, Mo., passed away on Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. She was born July 31, 1908, in Nekoosa, Wis., to Otto A. Borkowski and Eva Helena Hass Borkowski. She married Herman Sander on Dec. 21, 1929, in Carroll, Iowa, and he preceded her in death in 1987.
Esther lived in Manning, Iowa, and later in Omaha, Neb., for a number of years. She came to Moundville, Mo., in 1973, where she resided until 2005. Esther loved yard work and growing flowers and was known for making quilts and dolls.
Survivors include two daughters, Marlene Rae Cihacek, Omaha, Neb., and Karen Sue Graser and her husband, Bob, Papillion, Neb.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law, Joan Sander, Moundville. In addition to her husband, Herman, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, one infant son, Leland A. Sander and Darrel D. Sander.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 12, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Omaha, Neb., with Ed Spencer officiating.
