Tiger grapplers fare well at Monett
MONETT, Mo. -- The Nevada Tigers wrestling team had what head coach Devin White called "overall, not a bad day" at the Monett tournament on Saturday. Four Tigers returned from the tournament with medals.
Slade Stiles finished second in the A pool at 112 pounds by winning four of his five matches. Johnathan Ireland and Zach Shepherd earned fourth-place medals in the A pool, at 125 and 145, respectively. Heavyweight Sam Ellifrits "walked through the B pool," White said, winning each of his matches by in the first round except for the last match, which he won with a pin in the second round.
The Tigers are scheduled to be back in action on Thursday when they return home to take on Carthage for Matwarming, at 6 p.m., inside Wynn Gymnasium.
