Film series to honor Martin Luther King Jr. to begin on Friday

Diamond, Mo. -- In memory of Martin Luther King Jr., George Washington Carver National Monument invites the public to attend films on his life. The films will be shown on Jan. 14-17, at 1 p.m.

The following films will be shown:

* Friday, Jan. 14: Martin Luther King, Jr., "The Man and The Dream," This film has a running time of approximately 50 minutes.

* Saturday, Jan. 15: "Been to the Mountaintop," Featuring highlights of major speeches given by Martin Luther King Jr. This film has a running time of 25 minutes.

* Sunday, Jan.16, Martin Luther King, Jr., "The Man and The Dream," This film has a running time of approximately 50 minutes.

* Monday, Jan.17: "Been to the Mountaintop," Featuring highlights of major speeches given by Martin Luther King Jr. This film has a running time of 25 minutes.

George Washington Carver National Monument preserves the birthplace and childhood home of George Washington Carver: scientist, educator, and humanitarian. The monument is located 2 miles west of Diamond, Mo., on Highway V, then south 1/2 mile on Carver Road. For more information, call the park at (417) 325-4151 between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
