Dog vaccination, license clinics coming soon

Wednesday, January 12, 2011

Nevada city ordinances require all dogs that reside in the city limits to be licensed and to have the license attached to the dog's collar for identification purposes.

So, each year, to offer a convenient way that citizens can meet this responsibility and make sure dogs are up-to-date on vaccinations, the city offers sessions during which the public can obtain vaccinations and purchase dog licenses at the same time.

The 2011 city of Nevada dog registration and vaccination clinics will be held at the Franklin P. Norman Community Center, 200 North Ash on the following dates and times:

* Saturday Jan. 29, 9-11 a.m., with Dr. Erik Andersen from 54 Veterinary Clinic

* Saturday, Feb. 12, 9-11 a.m., with Dr. Rex Byergo from Country-side Ani-mal Hospi-tal

* Satur-day Feb, 26, from 1-3 p.m., with Dr. Brad Copeland from Nevada Veterinary Clinic

The veterinarians will be offering a variety of services including rabies vaccinations, parvo vaccinations and de-worming. The prices forthese services will be set by the veterinarians.

The city of Nevada will be offering the 2011 city dog licenses at the following prices:

* $2 for each neutered or spayed dog.

* $5 for each un-neutered male dog.

* $7 for each un-spayed female dog.

Annual dog licenses are to be purchased by March 1 of each year, and a delinquent penalty is assessed after that date, according to a press release from the Nevada Police Depart-ment.
