Nine line up for R-5 school board race

Filing for the Nevada R-5 Board of Education closed Tuesday afternoon with nine candidates running for the three open seats on the board.

Candidates include incumbents Nora Quitno and Steve Cubbage. The other seven candidates include Denise Jenkins, Michael Freeze, Nathan Forkner, Chris Hendren, Rick Baker, Adam Dean and Jeremy Fast.

The third seat up for election is currently held by Larry Forkner, who is retiring after 15 years on the board.

The nine candidates will face the voters on April 5.
