Dean R. Strickland
Dean R. Strickland, 66, of Caney, Kan., died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, at Mercy Hospital.
Dean was born June 17, 1944 in Wichita, Kan., the son of Allen R. and Charleen (Allen) Strickland. He attended and graduated from the Coffeyville School System. On Aug. 29, 1975, Dean was united in marriage to Sharon Harris in Bartlesville, Okla., and she survives of the home. He entered the United States Air Force and while serving attained the rank of staff sergeant. Dean worked at the Spears Manufacturing as a electrician and retired after 15 years. After retiring Dean continued working for Spears part time. He was a member of the Caney Golf Club. He was also part of the Dalton Gang Car Club.
Survivors are his wife, Sharon, of the home; two sisters, Vicki and husband, Jewell Hartzell, of Coffeyville, Kan., and Cheryl Strickland of Nevada, Mo.; several nieces and nephews as well as cousins. One sister, Beth Strickland, preceded Dean in death.
Celebration of life services were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 10, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Caney, Kan., with the Rev. Kenneth Lott officiating. Interment was at the Sunnyside Cemetery, Caney, under the direction of Potts Chapel of Caney. Viewing was Wednesday, Feb. 9, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The family has suggested memorials to the Can-Kan Dream Builders library fund and contributions may be left at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Caney, or the Potts Chapel of Caney.
