The Nevada Tigers ended their home season with a 54-43 win over the Lamar Tigers in a game delayed twice by weather that also included Nevada's Court-warming activities, which also were postponed from Feb. 4, by the weather.
The Tigers took a quick 9-0 lead and continued to lead 11-4 at the quarter and 30-12 at the half. Nevada's offense slowed during the third quarter scoring six points, which Lamar capitalized on by cutting Nevada's lead to 36-31 going into the fourth quarter.
Nevada picked up the pace in the fourth quarter, with junior Joe Ferry scoring eight of Nevada's 18 points.
"Joe played hard and showed very good defense," Nevada head coach John McNeley said.
The Tigers finish out the regular season tonight at El Dorado Springs and open district play Monday afernoon at 4:30 against the Clinton Cardinals.
McNeley said that Clinton is a team they know very well, having lost to them earlier this season.
"This game should have some meaning for the players. We led by 4 and ended up losing by 2 points," he said, adding that they are a good team, but Nevada can play with them.
