Gary Yokley
Gary Yokley, 66, of Liberal, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, at Barton County Memorial Hospital, after a sudden illness.
Gary was born May 2, 1944, to Jake Orville and Fern Pauline (Short) Yokley at Nevada, Mo. He was a graduate of Liberal High School in 1962. Gary was a farmer in Barton County for more than 23 years and was also a truck driver for CFI for 18 years before retiring. He was a member of the Christian Church of Liberal and enjoyed woodworking, working on cars, and hunting. On Dec. 8, 1984, he married Sharon Baetke.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon, of the home; two sons, Charles Yokley of Chanute, Kan., and Mike Yokley of the Joplin area; one step-son, Kevin Cambers and his wife, Jeannie, of Neosho, Mo.; and one step-daughter, Kendra Zafuta and her husband, Karl, of Frontenac, Kan.; one brother Joe Yokley and his wife, Shirley, of Bronaugh, Mo.; two sisters, Lois Mahnken and her husband, John, of Fort Scott, Kan., and Linda Weaver and her husband, Ed, of Liberal, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Mila Swearingen and her husband, Larry, of Cross Timbers, Mo.
Funeral services for Gary will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 1, at the Christian Church of Liberal with burial to follow at the Liberal City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m., Monday, at Daniel Funeral Home.
