Special guest Cat in the Hat reads to Head Start students on Seuss' birthday

Thursday, March 3, 2011

Cayden Bailey, 4, of Nevada points to a funny picture as The Cat In The Hat reads "Put Me in the Zoo" to a class at the Nevada Head Start on Wednesday morning. Kolby Boos, a high school student from Hume, Mo., portrayed the cat as part of a public service project. Boos visited all 87 children in the school and said his cousin Kayla Morrison who works at the Nevada Head Start volunteered him, and his grandmother made the costume. Boos showed up to read to the children and visit with them as part of a celebration of the birthday of the Cat in the Hat's creator, Dr. Seuss. Theodor Seuss Geisel was born March 2, 1904, and died Sept. 24, 1991. Geisel was an artist, a writer, an animator and a cartoonist who authored 44 children's books that are known the world over.
