Sharp earns Honorable Mention
FORT SCOTT, Kan. -- Fort Scott Community College freshman Jolee Sharp, a graduate of Fort Scott High School, earned Honorable Mention status on this year's All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College-Eastern Division team.
Sharp was honored after leading the conference in steals with 4.1 per game, finishing 10th in rebounds with 7.4 per game and 11th in scoring at 13 points per game. Among just players from the Eastern Division, she was sixth in rebounds and sixth in scoring.
The First Team has sophomores Ariana Silva of Cowley, Liz Smith of Johnson County and Liene Priede of Independence and freshmen Tiana Cannon of Coffeyville and Jennifer Johnson of Independence. Cannon was also named Freshman of the Year and Silva was chosen as the division's Most Valuable Player.
The Second Team has sophomores Taylor Floyd of Independence, Freddie Sims of Labette and Alyssa Rushton of Kansas City.
Named with Sharp to the Honorable Mention list were sophomores Taylor Bird of Johnson County, Maylisa Johnson of Cowley, Tracie Weege of Highland and Laci Schreiber of KCK and freshman Kamri Anderson of Independence.
Todd Clark, head coach of Eastern Division champion Cowley, was named the division's Coach of the Year.
No Greyhounds were named to the men's All-East team. Four sophomores -- Tyrus McGee of Cowley, Dennis Tinnon of KCK, Anthony Downing of Independence and Jamar Gulley of Highland -- were named to the First Team along with freshman Titus Rubles of Independence, who was also chosen as the division's Freshman of the Year. McGee was named MVP and KCK's Jon Oler was Coach of the Year.
Second Team players were sophomores Trey Anderson of Neosho County, Ryan Magdziarz of Johnson County, Stacy Wilson of Coffeyville and Jason Smith of Allen County along with freshman De'Andre Upchurch of Highland.
On the Honorable Mention list are sophomores Kevin Broussard, Neil Watson and Eriq Harris of Coffeyville, Dominick Cornelius of Cowley and Antonio Banks of Neosho County, with sophomore Ritea Acosta of Labette.
