Collene Rebecca McLean

Collene Rebecca McLean, 87, Springfield, Mo., formerly of the Nevada /Deerfield areas, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011, in Springfield, following a brief illness. Collene was born Jan. 31, 1924, in Harwood, Mo., to Chancy and Elsie Knowlton.

She moved to Deerfield as a child and attended Deerfield Village School and later Nevada High School. She worked at the Nevada State Hospital as a psychiatric aide for 31 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the VFW in Fort Scott, Kan., and the Eagles Lodge in Nevada.

Survivors include one son, Ennis McLean, Springfield, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Michael and Rebecca McLean, both of Springfield, Mo.

Funeral services for Collene McLean, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 12, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Interment will follow in the Deerfield Cemetery, Deerfield. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home, and friends may call now and until the hour of service.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Ferry Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, Nevada.
