Marie Addington
Marie Addington, 90, Nevada, passed away on Friday morning, March 18, 2011, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness. She was born on July 14, 1920, in Okmulgee, Okla., to Joe Riley Reed and Stella Blanch Hawkins Reed.
Marie was raised in Okmulgee and later in Russell, Kan. She met E.F. "Bus" Addington in January 1938, and two weeks later they were married on Feb. 12, 1938, and remained married for 59 years before his death on April 2, 1997. She and Bus came to Nevada in 1949. In the early 1960s she operated the restaurant at the Capri Bowl for several years. Later she worked for a number of years for Stylecraft Clothing, M&M Motor Supply, and Ladies Peddler until her retirement when they closed in 1996.
Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Lee Wilhelmson, Emporia, Kan.; one son, Tom Addington, Nevada; four grandsons, Jeff Addington and his wife, Lisa, and their son, Jacob, Fordland, Mo., Kevin Addington and his wife, Jennifer, and their children, Gage and Britni, Fort Scott, Kan., Kurtis Wilhelmson and his wife, Valerie, and their sons, Braden, Jeremiah and Edward, Emporia, Kan., and Christopher Wilhelmson and his wife, Tricia, and their children, Elizabeth and Joe, Battlecreek, Mich.; one brother, Riley E. Reed, Springdale, Ark.; and two nieces, Linda Hill, Fayetteville, Ark., and Sue Bartholomew, Lindsborg, Kan. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Rose Maeder.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 21, at Newton Burial Park, Nevada, with the Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 5-6:30 p.m., Sunday, March 20, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
