NEVC bus barn collapses

Thursday, May 26, 2011
Dennis Vantellman watches Andy Hays hold the backhoe steady while Greg Prough uses a chainsaw to remove a supporting post of the Northeast Vernon County school district bus barn that was damaged during high winds that moved through the Walker area on Tuesday night. Glen Hays and David Eaton hold the post to prevent more damage to the bus. One bus was at the home of a driver, so that bus and parents transported NEVC kids to school on Wednesday morning. The buses in the barn had some minor damage, such as broken mirrors and lights and small dents and scratches. Other residents in the Walker and Harwood areas reported limbs down, some damage to barns, roofs and other structures.Rusty Murry/Daily Mail.

Limbs like these were down at homes, mainly in the southeastern part of Walker. Neoma Foreman/Special to the Daily Mail.
