Nevada runners unable to advance
COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Nevada's trip to the Missouri Class 3 State Track and Field Champion-ships ended after just one day. Neither Tiger track entrant was able to advance from preliminaries and Nevada's only field athlete finished on the lower half of the results table.
Ashley Shumaker, a sophomore, placed 12th in girls' high jump as she cleared 5 feet even. Betsy Borgsmiller, a Sikeston junior, was the winner at 5' 5" after winning tie-breaker with Festus junior Breanne Borman.
Senior Jessica Neely was eighth in her heat and 16th overall in the preliminaries of the 100-meter hurdles. She finished in 17.06 seconds. Afton junior Hali Ford had the best finals-qualifying time of 15.10 seconds. Five of the eight finalists, including Ford, came from Neely's heat.
Junior Alex Bledsoe was eighth in his heat and 16th overall in the 800-meter prelims in 2:06.67. Kellin Loch of Warrensburg won the heat in 1:56.60, which was the best time of those who qualified for today's finals
