Zenda Gwen Schell
Zenda Gwen Schell, daughter of Rollin and Gwen Schell, was born on Dec. 26, 1960, at Wetzel Hospital in Clinton, Mo. She passed away peacefully on June 13, 2011, at St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
Zenda lived with her parents until June 3, 1999, when she moved to a group home in Nevada, Mo. She attended the Disciples of Christ Christian Church in Nevada. Every Sunday morning she would walk the one block to church from her group home. Zenda loved the people at her group home and considered them her family.
Zenda did sports when she was younger and continued participating in them after she moved to Nevada. She loved showing people the large bucket of medals and 106 ribbons she had won over the years.
Zenda is survived by her parents Rollin and Gwen Schell of Appleton City, Mo.; two brothers, Jerry and wife, Janice Schell, of Chanute, Kan., and Dale Schell of Roscoe, Mo.; and one sister, Lexye Schell and fiancé, Errich Oberlander, of Raymore, Mo.; seven nephews, Dusty Schell, Damon Schell, Darren Schell, Seth Davis, Trent Schell, Travis Schell and Tray Schell; one niece, Shea Davis; and four great-nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 18, at Appleton City Cemetery, Appleton City, Mo., with the Rev. Joe Wix Jr. officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, June 18, 10-10:45 a.m., at the Hill and Son Funeral Home, Appleton City, Mo.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Missouri State Special Olympics.
