Red Sox take first game of twinbill

NEVADA -- The Nevada Red Sox AAA Legion team stifled a seventh inning rally by the Harris-onville Moose to win the first of two games Friday night 7-4. The results of the second game were unavailable at press time.
Harrisonville's lead off batter, Michael Bias, got on base with a single, moved to second on a single by Travis Heyworth and scored on a sacrifice fly from Curtis Grimes. Heyworth was thrown out at second. Kenny Bias walked and was thrown out at second when Harrisonville's Austin Allen hit a grounder to the shortstop.
Caleb Kauffman led off with a double for the Red Sox and scored on a RBI single to center field by Kannon Hoover, tying the game at 1-1. Hoover was thrown out at second when he tried to steal second for the Red Sox first out. Tyler Cantrell was thrown out at first and Grant Davis struck out to end the inning.
The Red Sox added two runs to their lead in the second inning when the Red Sox catcher Trey Barger hit a single to centerfield and was thrown out at second when Ross Means hit a single near second base. Barger advanced to second and Means to third on a balk. Barger stole home for a 2-1 lead. Brendan Fast hit a RBI single to score Means for a 3-1 lead and was then thrown out at second on a steal. Calab Kauffman struck out swinging to end the inning.
The Red Sox held their 3-1 lead until the fourth inning when Harrisonville's Austin Allen led off with a double to left field and advanced to third when Caleb Curry hit a single to centerfield and then to second on a RBI single by Gunnar Ward that scored Allen to narrow the score to 3-2. Derek Smith struck out. Curry and Michael Bias were out on a double play when Bias bunted and Curry was thrown out at third and Curry at first.
Harrisonville added a third run in the fifth inning to tie the score at 3-3.
The Red Sox added two more in the fifth when Hoover grounded out and Sanderson reached on an error and moved to second when Cantrell walked. Lucas Denman flew out and a RBI triple scored Sanderson and Cantrell for a 5-3 lead.
Harrisonville struck out in order in the sixth.
The Red Sox added their last two runs in the sixth inning. Zach Vignolo led off for the Red Sox in the sixth with a single and was thrown out at second on a steal. Brendan Fast struck out for the second out. Kauffman hit a double and stole third. Hoover walked. Sanderson hit a 2 RBI double for a 7-3 lead. Cantrell struck out.
Harrisonville's Michael Bias led off the seventh inning with a strike out. Heyworth hit a single. Grimes reached on an error advancing Heyworth to second and Kenny Bias walked to load the bases, before the Red Sox bought in Lucas Denman to pitch to Lucas Allen who hit a RBI single to score Heyworth, narrowing the score to 7-4, leaving the bases loaded.
The Red Sox catcher Trey Barger caught a popup behind home for the second out and Gunnar Ward Struck to end the game.
The Red Sox's next game will be next Wednesday at Monett, Mo. They will host Webb City at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
