Red Sox sweep Cubs
The AAA Nevada Red Sox improved to 16-4, sweeping a doubleheader last night against the Monett Cubs at Monett 6-3 and 20-14.
In game 1, Ross Means pitched a strong 5 2/3 innings allowing just two earned runs before giving way to Kanon Hoover who picked up his fourth save on the season.
Hoover went 2-4 with a double and Trey Barger was 1-2 with a home run and two RBIs.
In game 2, the pitching struggled for both teams with the score ending up 20-14. Kyle "Bubba" Banes and Tyler Cantrell had three hits and both players hitting a HR and four RBIs.
Nevada will face Webb City Friday night at Lyons Stadium, starting at 5:30. The Carthage game last week was canceled due to weather issues and has been rescheduled for 3 p.m., July 1, at Lyons Stadium. The AA Red Sox game tonight against Webb City has been rescheduled for 6 p.m., June 30, at Lamar.
