Griffons win MINK League South Division championship
The Ozark Generals bounced back from their 10-2 loss to the Griffons Tuesday night to upset the MINK League south second place Sedalia Bombers 4-3 Wednesday night to give the Nevada Griffons the MINK League south division championship.
Griffons general manager Jeff Post said Wednesday night that he had just talked to the general manager of the MINK League north division champion St. Joseph Mustangs and confirmed they will play the first of a three-game champion series at 7 p.m., Friday, at Lyons Stadium. The second game will be in St. Joseph on Saturday, and if needed the third game will be Sunday in St. Joseph.
Winning the south division guarantees the Griffons a berth in the NBC World Series which starts July 30 in Wichita, Kan.
Had the Bombers won Wednesday they would have tied the Griffons for the division lead and would have played a single division championship game tonight at 7, with the winner advancing to the league championship series with the Mustangs.
