George "Don" Sinn

George "Don" Sinn, formerly of Merriam, Kan., passed away on Aug. 3, 2011, in Fort Scott, Kan. Born in 1931, Don married Shirley Louise Bowen in 1956. Together they raised two children, Terry Sinn (Janet) of Lane, Kan., and Sandy Smith (Russell Raines) of Platte City, Mo. They were the grandparents of Nick Smith (Shala), David Smith, Brandy Branstetter (Jon), Christina Sinn and George "Danny" Sinn (Jaime); and great-grandparents to Barrett, Hudson, Jacob, Colby and Alexa.

Don was a veteran of the Korean War and was a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was preceded in death by his wife and one brother. He leaves behind two sisters; two brothers; and a host of loving family and friends.

Jeff Fischer will conduct funeral services for Don at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 8, at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Fort Scott National Cemetery with military honors conducted at the cemetery by the Olson-Frary-Burkhart Post 1165 Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Detail. Visitation will be Sunday, Aug. 7, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
