Library now offering e-book downloads
Nevada Public Library has expanded its services with audio books, e-books available to download from the library's Web site. Library card holders can check out and download digital media anytime, anywhere by visiting www.nevadapubliclibrary.com and clicking on the "get started now" button in the OverDrive picture. There is also a short tutorial available on the webpage too. Users may browse the library's Web site, check out with a valid library card, and download to PC, Mac, and many mobile devices. Users will need to install free software.
For audio books and e-books, the user will download OverDrive Media Console. To read e-books, users will need Adobe Digital Editions. Titles can be enjoyed immediately or transferred to a variety of devices, including iPod, Sony Reader, and many others. The Amazon Kindle is joining OverDrive after the first of the year. Some audio titles can also be burned to CD to listen on-the-go. Titles will automatically expire at the end of the lending period. There are no late fees!
"Once you have prepared your device, the book download is simple and easy. We're here to help with any questions, Library Director Susan McBeth said. "Users have to set up an ID and PIN number with us in order for it to work. If you have not already done that, you can do that with a phone call, or bring your device in and we'll help you set it up." This new service, powered by OverDrive, is free for patrons with their library card. To get started downloading audiobooks, e-books, and more, visit www.nevadapubliclibrary.com
