Cailyn Hollands named Little Miss Missouri Princess
Cailyn Hollands, daughter of Brian and Megan Hollands of Nevada, captured the title of Little Miss Missouri Princess at the state pageant held last Saturday night in Branson.
The Missouri Princess Pageant was held last Saturday night at the Branson Tri-lakes center.
One winner was crowned in each of the six age divisions: Tiny Miss, 3-4 years; Little Miss, 5-6 years; Junior Miss, 7-9 years; Pre-teen, 10-12 years; Teen, 13-15 years; and Miss, 16-18 years.
Megan Hollands said Cailyn, who's now 6, has been entering pageants since she was a baby, and enjoys it. "She always makes a lot of new friends. She made a lot of new friends, from all over Missouri, this time, too," Megan said.
It's the first time they've been to this particular pageant; Cailyn also participates in the Miss Missouri pageant, which has a segment for younger girls as well.
Megan said that sometimes, people have misconceptions about pageants, especially those for little girls, mostly due to "what they see on TV. It's not like that at all." A natural look is preferred in the pageants in which Cailyn has taken part; and although some makeup is worn when they're on stage in the bright lights there's minimal use of it.
The competition consisted of three categories; interview, on stage introduction and formal wear.
The girls learned and performed a musical number to open the pageant; and a talent option was offered, which Cailyn also won in her age division; but the girls were not judged on the talent.
Cailyn and her mom, along with a grandmother and great-grandmother, spent the weekend in Branson for the event.
The Missouri Princess Pageant is held each year in conjunction with the Mrs. Missouri and Mrs. Kansas America pageants and winners are awarded the opportunity to make appearances throughout the year with the Mrs. Missouri and Mrs. Kansas titleholders.
