NHS tennis falls to Carthage

NEVADA -- Visiting Carthage High School defeated host Nevada 6-3 in varsity girls tennis action on Thursday.
Nevada had two wins in singles.
Regan Kimbrough defeated Morgan Hopper 8-2 at number-two singles and Jessica DeCocq topped Kaley Ledford 9-7 at number-three. Carthage's Morgan Guidie defeated Leah Creasy 8-5 at number-one singles, while Makenzie Copeland beat Nevada's Brandi Perrin 8-4 at number-four. Carthage also won at number-five and six singles, as Brooke Renken topped Lauren Phillips 8-2 and Shelby Willis defeated Kierstin Lanham 8-5.
Nevada won at number-one doubles, as Creasy and Kimbrough edged Guidie and Copeland 9-7. Ledford and Hopper beat Nevada's Lanham and DeCocq 8-6, while Renken and Willis defeated Perrin and Phillips 8-0.
Nevada (4-6) hosts Fort Scott on Tuesday afternoon at the NHS courts. The dual starts at 4:30 p.m.
