NEVADA -- From the early moments of Monday's volleyball match at Wynn Gymnasium, it was clear the host Tigers simply had too much firepower for visiting Seneca.

Nevada cruised to a quick two-set win over the Indians, winning 25-7, 25-12.

"Our girls did a good job of coming out and playing our game," Nevada Coach Ashley Thoreson said. "They did a good job of playing defense and they did a good job of swinging at the net. And it's always good to get a win."

Nevada improves to 12-8 on the season with the win.

The Tigers led 7-1 right away in the first set.

After a block by senior middle Bailey Harbit and an ace by senior setter Cassidy Lowery, the Tigers led 9-2.

A young Seneca team, dominated by underclassmen, struggled defensively against the taller Tigers' attack at the net, and also struggled offensively against the NHS defense and block at the net.

Junior middle Regan Kannady had back-to-back kills and it was 18-6.

A late kill by Lowery and an ace by senior libero Marisa Hughes gave Nevada the 25-7 victory.

In the second set, it was more of the same, but the Indians made the score more respectable.

Coach Thoreson got all of her players into the game, as well.

The set was tied at four early, but before the Indians knew it, they were down 21-11.

Seneca was just overmatched overall, and the Tigers used late kills from Taylor Norcross and Morgan McNeley to earn the win.

For the night, Kannady had seven kills and Harbit added six. Harbit also had three solo blocks at the net.

Hughes had 16 digs and Lowery had 16 assists. Lowery also served four aces for the Tigers.

Nevada hosts Ash Grove tonight at 6 p.m. and then heads to McDonald County on Thursday night.

"We'd love to be 14-8 at the end of this week," Thoreson said.
