Two killed in Friday night accident
The Missouri Highway Patrol says 22-year-old William Rader and 27-year-old Daniel Houts, both of Butler, Mo., were pronounced dead after a two-vehicle collision occurred on U.S. 54 Highway three miles west of El Dorado Springs on Friday.
The accident occurred about 10 p.m. when the eastbound Chevy S-10, driven by Rader, met oncoming traffic while passing several vehicles. The rear of the S-10 clipped the front of an eastbound 2008 Dodge Ram driven by Andrew T. Dawson, 22, of El Dorado Springs, Mo., as it tried to return to the proper lane. After impact with the Dodge, the S-10 veered off the roadway and struck a tree.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol online crash report, both drivers were insured. Neither victim was wearing a safety restraint device. Dawson was wearing a seatbelt and was unharmed in the accident. His vehicle was driven from the scene and the S-10 was towed from the scene by Steward's Wrecker service.
