Bronaugh knocks off rival Sheldon

BRONAUGH-- Bronaugh hosted rival Sheldon in varsity volleyball action on Tuesday night.

The host Wildcats defeated the Panthers in two-straight sets, winning 25-18, 25-20. The Wildcats finished strong in both sets.

The first set was tied at 12, but Bronaugh pulled away late for the victory.

Bronaugh's Anna Gray had two key aces and RaeAnn Mader and Cydnee Piper had late kills.

In the second set, Bronaugh was in control up 20-10, but Sheldon fought back and got within a couple points.

Jessica Rawlings had a couple of kills at the net for Sheldon and it was 23-19 in favor of the hosts.

But the Wildcats once again finished strong to pull out the victory for Coach Jim Hillman.

The two schools also squared off in junior high basketball.

Sheldon's volleyball team defeated Ballard on Monday 21-25, 25-15, 25-18 for Coach Tyler Judd.

Ballard won a junior high boys basketball game 29-18.

In other recent volleyball action, Hume defeated Sheldon 25-21, 25-22. Hume also won the junior high girls basketball game 33-19, but Sheldon won the boys junior high game 27-24.
