Students take ACTION to raise money for Joplin fund

The afternoon was sunny and warm and the competition ACTION-packed for Sunday's Ultimate Frisbee Tournament hosted by seniors in Nevada High School's ACTION class, a program for gifted students.

The event, organized by student Chris Enriquez and Cameron Byergo was all about having fun and raising money for a good cause -- the Bright Futures Joplin Fund.

Held at the track next to Nevada High School, the two-hour tournament featured four teams -- Get Blasted, commanded by Silas Smith; Dominachun, captained by Taylor Norcross; The Other Guys, directed by Bryce Leonard; and Team America, led by Byergo.

In first place was team Dominachun, earning 10 movie passes to Century Six Cenema; in second place was Get Blasted, winning 10 coupons for free limeades at Sonic; in third place was The Other Guys and in fourth place was Team America. A total of $175 was raised, all of which will go to the Joplin fund.
