Reichard swims state-qualifying times

WEBB CITY -- Nevada sophomore Grace Reichard recorded state qualifying times in a couple of events at Webb City on Tuesday.

Reichard won the 200-yard IM with a state qualifying time of 2:16.

Swimmers need to finish in 2:20.89 to qualify, so Reichard's time easily met the qualifying standard.

Reichard also won the 100 breaststroke with a qualifying time of 1:12.

To qualify for state swimmers need to finish in 1:13.69.

Several of Nevada's relay teams fared well at the event.

The team's 200 freestyle relay team of Emma Denman, Megan Messick, Tayrin Schmitt and Reichard finished second with a time of 1:52.

Nevada's 200 medley relay team of Messick, Schmitt, Reichard and Denman took fourth place with a time of 2:07.

Nevada's B team of Abbie Landoll, Elizabeth Prewitt, Hunter Richmond, and Lize Smith took eighth in the 200 medley (2:31) and finished sixth in the 200 free relay (2:08).

Nevada's team of Tori Chrisenberry, Olivia Culbertson, Kourtney Workman and Rees Noble took ninth in the 200 free relay (2:24).

Several individuals also had nice showings at the event.

Schmitt was third in the 200 freestyle, finishing in 2:19. In the same event, Prewitt was 14th (2:48), Landoll was 16th (2:50) and Smith finished 17th (2:53).

Messick finished third in the 50 free, finishing in 28.62. Richmond was sixth (28.96), Denman was 11th (30.33), Noble finished 18th (34.88), and Culbertson was 21st (36.23).

Messick was fourth in the 100 back (1:13), while Richmond was 10th (1:22) and Landoll was 14th (1:28).

Denman was sixth in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:29 and Noble took 10th place in the 100 free (1:19). Also in the 100 free, Culbertson was 14th (1:22) and Workman was 19th (1:29).

Prewitt was sixth in the 500 free (7:18) and Smith was 10th (7:45).

Schmitt finished fifth in the 100 breast (1:20).

Coach Amyl Bishop's Tigers head to Carthage on Monday, Dec. 19.
