Another weekend, another tournament.

The Nevada High School wrestling team heads to the Harrisonville Holiday Invitational this weekend.

The 25-team tourney begins on Friday and wraps up on Saturday.

"This is probably the toughest tournament we'll be at until state," Nevada Coach Devin White said. "It's an exciting event. There's a wide variety of teams and the competition will be really tough. There's a lot of talent at this tournament, with lots of state medalists. And the good thing about it is there's great competition from Class 1 to Class 4 schools. It's really big for us. It lets the kids know where they're at."

Nevada's Tanner Charles and Slade Stiles earned individual titles at the event last year.

It's the third-straight weekend tourney for the team, which competed at Carl Junction and at Pleasant Hill the past two weekends.

The field at Harrisonville is a large one. The complete field at Harrisonville is Carl Junction, Clinton, Deer Creek (Okla.), Grain Valley, Harrisonville, Holden, K.C. Center, Kirksville, Marshall, Mexico, Nevada, Odessa, Osage, Pleasant Hill, Raymore-Peculiar, Richmond, Ruskin, St. Charles West, St. Clair, St. Joseph Benton, Seneca, Smithville, Sparta (Wis.), Springfield Catholic, and Webb City. The event begins at 4 p.m. on Friday. The wrestling begins at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.

'Century Club' addition

Senior Tanner Charles is Nevada's newest member of "The Century Club." Charles passed 100 career wins at Pleasant Hill.

"Not very many kids have reached that mark in Nevada history," Coach White said. "100 wins is really something special. Tanner was really excited."

Tigers home Tuesday

Nevada hosts a triangular on Tuesday night with Clinton and Webb City. Clinton and Webb City will wrestle first at 6 p.m., with Nevada taking on Clinton in the second dual. Webb City and the host Tigers will finish the night with a final dual.
