Housing Authority store offers special benefit to residents

Residents anxiously waited to check in, verify housing bucks and access the Christmas resident store at the Nevada Housing Authority this week. Above, the shopping begins. The resident store helps to provide families a resource for providing for their families throughout the year but especially at Christmas time. "We shared laughs, hugs and some tears as residents were able to shop for family members and friends that they might not otherwise have been able to do," said Housing Authority Director Carol Branham.

Watch in the next few months and years as these type programs lose funding money. After all the poor want to be poor it is becuase of their own lack of motivation and relying on the government handout and entitlements that have run up the debt. These people are just not working hard enough so lets remove all support as a way to stimulate these individuals to work harder. And if they don't well when they starve to death to bad so sad it was their own fault..

shame on you for judging anyone.There are alot of good people who are poor and try very hard to make ends meet.The economy is absolutely terrible,i think its fantastic what they did for those people.There are bad apples that choose to live off the system and take advantage but there are also people who deserve a hand up!!!!

I am going to agree that enders needs to do a little, okay, alot, of research before bashing but he is not totally wrong. In my opinion, where he missed the mark was the drain on society is not the residents of NHA. These people go through a very, very stringent screening process to prove they are not losers looking for handouts but just down on their luck people of all ages drowning in hard times trying to get their heads above water. The people who abuse the system are turned away by NHA.

I think Endersgame is just trying to help Obama get reelected, as obama he didn't think before he stated flapping his lips...The Seniors and those who live at NHA are the kindest people, and they do what they can to help...some even work...so don't judge them...most of the Seniors there don't like what they have to do to survive but who knew 60 years ago you wouldn't be able to buy your medication and have money left over to eat? Don't judge a person until you have walked a mile in their shoes. God helps those who help themselves...right

Of course he was using sarcasm to mock the well worn mantra of those that want want to pull the safety net from the less fortunate among us. Need to be careful with scarcasm, I got the hook (or delete key) for scarcasm in a post about the school improvements. Oh well, it's a privilege not a right to post a comment on somebody else's website.
