Schools' filing deadline today

With the 5 p.m., today, filing deadline approaching, two of Vernon County's three rural school districts have contested races.

At Sheldon, R-8 School District incumbents Michelle Claflin and Julie Casey will be opposed by Joanne Dedrick and Daniel Laning in the April 3 election, a school spokeswoman reported Friday.

Bronaugh R-7 District incumbents David Reedy and Jeremy Weaver are being challenged for new three-year terms by Ryan Linn, School Secretary Patty Clinton said.

A Northeast Vernon County School District official said Friday that no one had yet filed for the R-1 positions currently being held by Dennis Vantellman and Andy Hays.

Missouri school board races will be decided on the same day that city council elections are held statewide.
