NEVADA -- Devin White would love to see what a full lineup could do.
Unfortunately for the head coach of the Nevada High School wrestling team, he continues to wait for that to happen.
White's Tigers were once again short-handed on Tuesday night.
And taking full advantage of Nevada's forfeits, McDonald County defeated the host Tigers 51-17 in a dual at Wynn Gymnasium.
"We've got some guys injured and we've got some guys out for other reasons," White said. "It's tough. We spotted them 24 points. But if you take out the opens, it would have been a lot closer. The kids wrestled well. There were several close losses, too. Sometimes you get some breaks, and sometimes you don't. Mac County is a good team, but if we just have everyone in our lineup, it's a different dual."
Mac County won by forfeit at 106, 113, and 126 pounds. Both teams were open at 170.
Once the action began, McDonald County's Josh Chewey pinned Daxtyn Osbourn at 120 pounds.
But Nevada standout Tanner Charles earned an 18-9 decision over Jacob Dalton at 132. Both Charles and Dalton are ranked wrestlers.
Nevada's Kyle Bennett lost by fall to state-ranked Cameron LeGrand in the third period at 138, but battled all the way.
"Bennett wrestled a great match," White said. "That kid (LeGrand) is a three-time state qualifier. Kyle wrestled tough, but just got a little sloppy at the end."
In another bout featuring two ranked wrestlers, Mac County's Cody Priebe edged Zach Shepherd at 145, earning a 13-11 decision in overtime. Shepherd led 11-8 after two periods, but Priebe scored an escape and a takedown to tie it up in the third period. In the OT, Priebe was able to take down Shepherd to secure the win.
"I knew it was going to be tough," White said. "Somebody had to lose. Zach still needs to work on his shot defense. We'll get there."
Next, Nevada's Bradey Denney earned an 11-0 decision over Chris Dalton at 152 and Austin Huggins pulled off a late pin against Terry Woolwine at 160. The match was tied at six in the third period when Huggins earned the fall.
"Huggy finished real well," White noted.
Mac County's Justin Resz earned a win by fall over Lucas Denman at 182, but Tigers junior Colby Smith earned a hard-fought 3-1 decision over Daniel Sumler at 195.
Jordan Moffett pinned Nevada's Levi Wilson at 220 and Andrew Coberley pinned Nevada's Tucker Wingert at heavyweight.
Home again Thursday night
Nevada hosts Butler on Thursday at 6 p.m. It will be the annual Matwarming night.
"We have to get everyone healthy and we need to get the other guys back ready to rock and roll," White said.
Also, the Class of 2012 will have its annual Baked Potato Bar with toppings, dessert and drinks for Matwarming. The cost of the dinner is $5, and all proceeds benefit the Scholarship Fund. Dinner will be served from 5-7 p.m. in the Nevada High School Commons.
