NEVC's Bell reaches milestone in Tuesday's loss

WALKER--Northeast Vernon County's Jacob Bell passed 1,000 career points in his team's 60-49 loss to Halfway on Tuesday.

Bell, a senior guard, scored 14 points and now has 1,001 points. Bell's teammate Grant Davis reached the milestone last year, giving the Knights two players who have pulled off the rare feat.

The Knights (6-6) got off to a slow start to the game, as Halfway led 25-15 at halftime. Halfway won the girls game 60-21.

NEVC boys: Stutzman 9, Maus 3, Bell 14, DeOrnellis 2, Hoagland 2, Lyness 9, Davis 10.

NEVC girls: Middleton 6, Buttorff 8, H. Hays 4, Haddix 2, P. Hays 1.

Sheldon, Rich Hill split

RICH HILL -- Sheldon and Rich Hill split a high school basketball doubleheader on Tuesday night.

Sheldon won the girls game 57-45. Jessica Rawlings scored 16 and Erica Conner added 15 for Sheldon (8-5).

Using a 30-point fourth quarter, Rich Hill won the boys game 67-55.

Eric Leavell scored 22 for Tyler Judd's Panthers (10-3).

Sheldon hosts Hume on Friday for Homecoming.

Hume girls roll

HUME--Hume's girls improved to 8-2 with a lopsided 62-47 win over Miami.

Makena Thompson scored 19 points and had 10 rebounds. Kaitlee Metcalf stepped in as the starting point guard and scored 17, with five threes and five assists. Hannah Jacobs added 12 points.

The boys score was unavailable.

Hume: Thompson 19, Jacobs 12, Sears 7, A. Yarick 7, Metcalf 17.
